Different size of the batteries means the batteries having different capabilities and different power production. Some of the types of batteries based on their size are-

AA Battery: AA batteries are the most manufactured batteries among the other batteries. These are commonly used in portable electronic devices. The length of an AA battery is 49.2-50.5 mm, and 13.5-14.5 in diameter. The average weight of AA batteries is roughly 20 gram.

AAA Battery: AAA batteries are mainly used in smaller electronic devices such as MP3 players, TV remote controls and various digital cameras. The AAA batteries measure 44.5 mm in length and 10.5 mm in diameter. The Alkaline AAA batteries weigh around 11.5 gram whereas the rechargeable batteries’ average weight is 14-15 gram.

AAAA Battery: The AAAA batteries are usually 42.5 mm in length and the diameter of it is 8.3 mm. These kinds of batteries are mainly used in devices such as LED penlights, Powered Compared Styluses, Laser Pointers, Glucose Meters and headphone amplifiers which are quite small and do not require much power. Also, AAAA batteries are not as popular as the AA or AAA batteries.

C Battery: The C batteries are usually used in medium-drain applications such as flashlights and musical instruments. The length of a C battery measures 50 mm and the diameter of it is 26.2 mm. Alkaline C batteries can store up to 8000 mAh whereas the rechargeable ones can hold up to almost 6000 mAh.

Other than these batteries which are fairly common, there are other batteries such as D batteries, 9V batteries, 6V are also available in the market.
